Home Safety Assessments
Making homes safer, preventing falls, and helping older adults
stay independent longer.
Program Overview
The Home Modification for Falls Prevention Program offers free home safety assessments and low-cost, high-impact modifications designed to reduce the risk of falls. By improving safety in the home, the program helps older adults maintain independence, avoid injury, and continue living confidently in their communities.
Funded through an Administration of Community Living (ACL) Innovation Grant from the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and North Carolina State Fiscal Recovery Funds, the program also benefits from expert Occupational Therapy assessments provided by Appalachian State University’s Occupational Therapy Program.
